For over a decade, renowned travel journalist, bestselling author and TV host Robin Esrock scoured the globe in search of one-of-a-kind, bucket list–worthy experiences. During his remarkable journey to over 100 countries on seven continents, Esrock uncovered unique adventures, fascinating histories, cultural spectacles, natural wonders, hilarious situations and unforgettable characters – proving that modern travel is so much more than just over-trafficked tourist attractions. From the Amazon jungle to the beaches of Zanzibar, The Great Global Bucket List presents the world we don’t hear much about in the news: a planet that is strikingly beautiful, thought-provoking, incredibly diverse and sometimes just very, very funny. With his trademark wit, photography and insight, Esrock introduces the inspiring experiences you’ll be talking and dreaming about for many years to come.

2. Yak on Track: An unforgettable adventure in the last Himalayan Kingdom by Heather McNeice (Paperback – 28 August 2018) RRP $29.95
It seemed like a good idea to Heather at the time: organise a challenging trek to raise funds for the education of young Bhutanese girls. Heather had walked in the Himalayas before, so how hard could it be on the trail to Lunana, Bhutan’s most remote plateau? On the 240-kilometre trek, she discovers that ‘hard’ doesn’t even come close.
Along with her friend Krista, likeminded lover of mountains and margaritas, a team of eccentric guides and far too many horses, Heather sets off into a landscape of savage beauty, where yetis are feared and only yaks feel at ease. As the team face blizzards, avalanches, altitude sickness and snow blindness, their reward is a rare glimpse of life in the last Shangri-La.
At its heart, this book is a love song to Bhutan and its people, an intimate portrait of the only remaining Buddhist kingdom of the Himalayas. YAK ON TRACK is a delightful story about losing yourself but not losing your way.
About the Author
Heather McNeice was born in Northern Ireland and moved to Australia in 2006. She is a practising lawyer based in Noosa and is married with three children. Heather has long been fascinated by Bhutan. On her first trip there in 2010, she was inspired to support a girls’ education program established by Bhutanese organisation RENEW. She continues her support of this program by returning to Bhutan every year to lead small-group treks, and has raised over $226,000 to date. Yak on Track is her first book.

3. White Nights: A Colombian Odyssey by Austin Galt (Paperback – 30 January 2018) RRP $29.99
A young Aussie goes behind the drug smuggling lines in deadly beautiful Colombia.
‘God made Colombia the most beautiful country in the world so he had to balance it by inhabiting it with the worst people in the world.’ Old Colombian Proverb

Australian writer Austin Galt arrived in Colombia looking for a life less ordinary. He found it – or did it find him? On Austin’s first day in the country he was hauled off a bus to look down the barrel of a gun as he was detained and questioned by the AK-47-toting Revolutionary Armed Forces. Welcome to Colombia!
In the days, months and years that followed, Austin travelled all over Colombia, tracing the Narcos’ trail and walking in the shadows of drug lords such as Pablo Escobar and the Cali Cartel. While meeting local gangsters and international coke traffickers, he attended underworld parties and was lured into the sex, drugs and danger-fuelled life of an underworld kingpin.
What he discovered in those crazy days and white nights shocked, scared and, ultimately, seduced him.
About the Author
Austin Galt was born in Sydney. A model and investment banker in his homeland, he found himself travelling through Colombia in 2001, then the most violent country in the world. Thereafter he taught English to locals in Bogotá, while exploring Colombia and having the opportunity to become a drug trafficker for the Cali mafia. He currently lives in Medellín with his Colombian-born wife and two daughters.
