About the writer

Bob Hawke is an Australian politician who was the 23rd Prime Minister of Australia, serving from 1983 to 1991. The book takes the reader on an interesting journey through Bob Hawke’s childhood up to and including his years in England as a Rhodes scholar. After his scholarship, Bob Hawke returned to Australia and became responsible for making major changes to the stevedoring industry through containerisation. He, then, was elected President of the ACTU on 11 September 1968.  Interesting to note in his memoir is a whole chapter is devoted to the history of uranium mining in Australia which has the world’s largest uranium deposits.
